In most cases, the sooner, the better. Early mobilization is key to preventing blood clots and joint stiffness. Depending on the type of surgery, we often begin gentle movements and circulation exercises within 24 to 48 hours of your discharge, provided your surgeon has given the “OK” to start.
Is home-based rehab as effective as going to a specialized clinic?
Absolutely. For post-surgical patients, home rehab is often more effective. It allows us to train you in the actual environment where you live—teaching you how to safely get in and out of your bed, use your stairs, and navigate your bathroom. Plus, you avoid the physical strain and pain of traveling to a clinic during your early recovery phase.
I am afraid of the pain; will the exercises hurt my surgical site?
This is a very common fear. Our approach is based on “Pain-Guided Progression.” We focus on manual therapy and gentle techniques to reduce swelling and pain first. We never force a movement that puts your surgical repair at risk. Our goal is to find the balance between necessary movement and your personal comfort level.
How many sessions per week will I need to see results?
Every patient is different, but for most post-operative cases (like knee or hip replacements), we typically recommend 2 to 3 sessions per week during the first month. As you regain strength and independence, the frequency usually decreases to once a week until you are fully cleared for normal activity.
Can you follow the specific protocol provided by my surgeon?
Yes, this is our priority. We are highly experienced in working with surgeon-specific protocols (e.g., weight-bearing restrictions or range-of-motion limits). If you have a discharge report or a specific rehabilitation plan from your doctor, we will follow it strictly to ensure your recovery is both safe and aligned with the surgical goals.
